So today was an interesting day. Still sick, I found out last night that I had one out of two finals for the last class that I have to take today… yes, you heard me right: TODAY!! So I took my OTCs and I headed out to GU. On my way there, I was stopped by a cop (somethings about speeding…). I think he must of caught on by my stuffed up, slightly slurred speech; “Are you sure you should be driving?” he asked me. I was late, so I had to be frank, “Look, I just found out that I have a final exam in less than an hour LAST NIGHT and I’m really, really just trying to get there on time.” I am so glad that he didn’t arrest me and just let me go with a warning.

Basically, this final was a skills assesment test for the lab class that I was taking. If you’ve done lab work for 6+ years, it’s pretty much a piece of cake. However, when high on OTCs, it does become a challenge. About half way through the test, I was gone. I have to say special thanks to the medical student that not only let me use her mucroscope (since the ones owned by the department are so crappy), but she focused on my stained slides when I couldn’t. She can be my doctor anytime.

Anyways, that’s one down and one more to go at the end of the month. I think I’m going to try to go to work tomorrow. I don’t know how it’ll go, but I need to do some work this week. Wish me luck.

Peace.

Viral Infections suck! 9 January 2007

So I’m sitting at home this Tuesday morning, trying to get over this viral infection. It started innocently enough with a bad case of laryngitis over the weekend. I didn’t think too much about it until the sinus pain. Because I still don’t have a doctor (I think it must be a doctor/scientist thing), I went over to the GU clinic yesterday. High fever and fatigue usually mean a viral infection rather than a bacterial one, but they took a throat swab just in case. Treatment includes rest and lots of fluids; allow the body to fight the infection.

And this sickness couldn’t have come at a bad enough time. There was a seminar that I needed to go to this morning, work that needed to be done and meetings to attend at school. But I’m sure Dr. A will appreciate the fact that I didn’t come in today; last time I came in sick, half the lab caught it.

Off to rest. Peace.
